Our experience extends right across the public sector – from national ‘giants’ like the Department for Work and Pensions, the MoD, and the NHS – to the local authorities and other organisations that deliver vital everyday services in communities across the length and breadth of the UK.
We can support you at three levels:
As a supplier
Providing the information and communication technologies local authorities need –for fixed and mobile phone services, data networks, and so on.
We work with these customers, encouraging them to consolidate and converge their voice and data networks and enjoy the benefits IP networks have to offer.
Authorities are increasingly convinced by the argument that they will obtain greater value for money by consolidating contracts for individual services. Some have progressed a long way owards convergence, and are reaping significant benefits as a result. But others are much further behind. Many are just starting out.
In collaboration
Working with authorities on specific projects – to trial new ways of working, for example, or improve particular aspects of performance.
In Edinburgh, for example, a system that dynamically allocates jobs to mobile workers equipped with PDAs made the council’s in-house building services team more productive, significantly increasing the number of jobs they could complete each week. As a result, the need to outsource jobs to contractors was reduced by 25 per cent.
As a partner
Engaging strategically with local authorities to transform their operations, improve public services and control costs.
We have partnerships with forward-thinking local authorities in Edinburgh, Liverpool (Liverpool Direct Ltd), Sandwell (Transform Sandwell), South Tyneside and Suffolk (Customer Service Direct). Of these, Customer Service Direct was the first in the UK to serve two tiers of local government – Suffolk County Council and Mid-Suffolk District Council.
