Criminal Justice is a major UK public service area attended to by some 400,000 people, from judges and lawyers to police and probation officers. The various entities that make up the service use a variety of systems, not originally designed to share information between people working in different organisations. In response, the Criminal Justice IT (CJIT) programme was set up to offer anyone involved – including professionals, victims, and witnesses – easy access to all available information relating to their part in criminal justice processes.
