KNMP is the Royal Dutch Association for the Advancement of Pharmacy. Since its foundation in 1842 it has assisted pharmacists through stimulating scientific advances and promoting excellence in patient care. Based in The Hague, the society employs around 170 people. Its membership of some 5,000 professionals represents over 90 per cent of all Netherlands pharmacists. To assist them in running quality practices KNMP offers a range of services such as reference books, protocols, and statistics. It also organises conferences and offers a help desk for its members.
