Lincolnshire NHS Shared Services (LSS) launched a new initiative to improve return on investment from telephony services. The immediate challenge was to overcome lack of visibility and control. The burden of processing around 500 phone bills each month meant that LSS was unable to focus on adding value and driving efficiency.
BT proposed a complete solution. This comprised a hosted voice network with features, such as inter-site calls at no extra charge and extension calling. A usage-based charging arrangement was complemented by consolidated contract management and billing. In addition, BT Billing Analyst provides a complete picture of usage, calling patterns and inter-site traffic.
LSS expect to see significant call savings as more sites migrate to the BT FeatureNet platform. BT Billing Analyst has delivered early savings on international calls, directory enquiries, third party bills, and under-utilised lines. BT OneBill has consolidated invoicing down to just one bill per month, improving visibility of financial reporting and enabling reclaim of tax on BT private circuit spend.
Both NHS North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus have a history of working collaboratively to improve healthcare in the Local Health Community. Together they serve around 350,000 residents in the urban areas of Scunthorpe, Immingham, Grimsby, and Cleethorpes, as well as in rural communities across Northern Lincolnshire.
