Spark lets a new day dawn for people without permanent homes, through a route off the streets into training, employment and independent housing.
Social enterprise champions The Trees Group and Big Issue Invest were supported by Eastside Consulting to develop and launch Spark in December 2007. BT, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Places for People are its principal corporate partners, while the Department for Communities and Local Government adds political clout.
Spark lets a new day dawn for people without permanent homes, through a viable route off the streets into training, employment, and independent housing.
“We ensure that much-needed business resources and funds are channelled into supporting solid social enterprises,” explains Angelina Purcell MBE, the Spark Director.
Now in its second year, Spark has already helped 30 social enterprises develop sustainable business plans set to increase their aggregate income to £11 million over three years. The three principal Spark corporate partners have also invested the time of 90 of their people to apply their skills and support the growth of those social enterprises. That time commitment is valued at over £500,000.
