ARCADIS wanted an ICT technology solution that would support its sustainability strategy
The legacy PBX network was decommissioned and replaced by BT-managed IP Telephony and BT Business Voice
The new platform provides high quality and cost effective voice connectivity across the Netherlands and avoids call charges by carrying internal voice traffic
Providing consultancy, design, engineering, and management services in areas like infrastructure and the environment, ARCADIS employs more than 15,000 people worldwide. With strong market positions across Europe, the Americas, China, and Japan, it is one of the top 10 global companies in its field.
The execution of large infrastructure projects takes careful co-ordination, invariably involving specialists and teams around the world.
“Sustainability is high on our agenda,” says Rob Gijsberts, IT Director at ARCADIS. “It’s one of our crucial design principles. We also try to work in sustainable ways, for example avoiding business travel whenever possible.”
ICT technology is vital in achieving those aims. “Our engineers need to collaborate no matter where they are,” Rob continues. “For example, complex structural calculations are constantly exchanged between engineers here in Holland and elsewhere around the globe. A resilient and reliable wide area network is absolutely essential.”
