With BT and Cisco know-how, mining company is moving to a standardised ICT environment worldwide
New techniques, like remote controlled mining, meant wireless technology at Freeport-McMoRan was no longer up to the job. A BT consultant was invited to design a wireless reference architecture for use worldwide.
So impressed was Freeport-McMoRan with the result that, when Ketan Patel faced the challenge of furnishing the company’s new Phoenix headquarters with innovative technology, it was BT he turned to for help.
Now, a Cisco-based unified communications platform runs the new building, working in harmony with legacy systems elsewhere in the company. That makes Freeport-McMoRan much more efficient, while it can roll out the new set up around the world at its own speed.
“BT and Cisco were quickly able to provide well qualified resources to help us design, plan, and implement various projects that are vital to our operations.”
Ketan Patel
