The Council wanted to enhance its WAN infrastructure to support more flexible working, against a shared services model
BT’s managed network uses BT Wavestream to create a “ring” around the county, with Ethernet Extension Services connecting distributed sites
The high speed, resilient, and scalable WAN is helping the Council to reduce costs and transform the way it works
Lincolnshire is the fourth largest county in England with a population approaching 700,000. Its broad geography and low population density means that the cost and complexity of providing public services can be high compared with more urban areas. The Gershon report required all UK local authorities to achieve better value for money, more efficient working practices, and improved customer service. One of Lincolnshire County Council’s key strategies for achieving these improvements is the provision of a high capacity, highly reliable WAN infrastructure, supporting new ways of working within Lincolnshire.
