Relate wanted to increase support for parents who would not tend to seek help through traditional face-to-face or telephone channels
BT/Relate created a web-based Family Mapping Tool that helps parents understand the dynamics of family relationships using visual representation
The solution blends technology and behavioural therapy techniques in an innovative combination, widening access to Relate services
Relate is the leading provider of relationship support in the UK. A Relate / BT consortium won funding from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to develop a Family Mapping Tool as part of the second round of its flagship Family Information Direct programme. This programme aims to provide information, advice and support to all parents, grandparents, carers, and other adults with caring responsibility in England, on a range of issues they may face in bringing up children.
In the first round of the programme Relate delivered an SMS and live chat service to complement telephone counselling. The second round objective was to further enhance services through an innovative self-service counselling tool.
