BT further expands data centre capacity in Benelux
(29 September 2014)
New high-density server area in Nieuwegein to help BT meet growing demand for hybrid, cloud-based services
Following the opening of its third Benelux data centre in Rotterdam, BT is now further expanding its existing facility in Nieuwegein. A new server area will increase the IT services capacity on site by 30 per cent when it becomes operational in spring 2015. This latest expansion will help meet the growing demand for managed networked IT services and cloud-based applications.
The new high-density server area strengthens BT’s dual data centre set-up in the region, as well as the ability to serve customers via its global network of more than 45 data centres. Using the BT Compute portfolio of services, clients benefit from automated delivery of virtualised server and storage capacity on secure, pre-provisioned cloud platforms, or can choose to have BT design and set up private platforms. In Benelux, BT serves customers from data centres in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Nieuwegein.
“We connect people and services from anywhere in the world, providing the reliability, speed and confidence today’s organisations need to realise the possibilities in the cloud. Be it public, private or hybrid cloud services, we give customers control over where data is hosted at all times, helping them meet compliance and assurance requirements”, said Joris van Oers, CEO BT Benelux.
BT’s data centres in the region are connected to BT’s global network using a variety of access technologies. Combined with BT’s capability to deliver voice services, these sites are ideally placed to support the BT One portfolio of unified communications and collaboration services, including solutions based on Microsoft Lync 2013 or Cisco’s Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS).
