By offering the same leading technologies and services we are reputed for in the UK, we are in the best possible position to help large multinational business customers’ expand into Asia, as well as to support our Asia corporations increase their ability to do business globally”

– Kevin Taylor, President, BT Asia Pacific

In recent years BT has invested over £75m in a dual-core MPLS network in Asia Pacific that is more resilient, more efficient, and more widely available than anything we’ve offered before. With multiple network paths between Asia and the US, BT ensures a route is always available between these two regions. Connectivity between Europe and Asia is enabled across multiple cable systems, providing the core elements of BT’s first platform that circles the world – with a completely resilient ring connecting India into the UK and Singapore on different cable systems.

The company has also invested significantly in key IP platforms and the transfer of services onto an integrated platform for voice, video and data. Core services offered in Asia Pacific include convergence, customer relationship management, conferencing, outsourcing, security, IT transformation and mobility.

Scale and capability in Asia Pacific have been further enhanced following the completion of the acquisition of Frontline Technologies in March 2008. Now operating under the brand name of BT Frontline, the acquisition complements and adds depth to BT’s existing networked IT services and IT solutions capabilities in the region.

Within the region, customer service is managed from BT’s Global Operation Centre in Pune, India, and our Technology and Service Centre in Dalian, China, supplemented by service desks in Sydney and Tokyo. Additionally, BT has established Research Centres in Kuala Lumpur and Shanghai. Future investment will establish a regional data centre presence that will address the requirements of global financial services customers.

BT has had a presence in China for over ten years and has offices in Beijing and Shanghai, and at over a dozen service points. BT supports around 500 customers, including China Shipping, ZTE, Huawei, Air China, Unilever, P&G, DHL, Novartis, Coca Cola etc.

Managing operations in more than 1,000 sites in China, BT provides local network coverage across the country through a partnership with China Netcom Corp (CNC) and China Telecom (CT). The Technology and Service Centre in Dalian provides software development and customer service support in English, Mandarin, Japanese and Korean. BT is a Cisco Gold Certified Partner in China.

In addition, BT also has a presence in China via a 47% stake in MDCL Frontline (China) which provide IT services and has offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hong Kong and Taipei.
