Greetings from festive London
As 2016 draws to a close it strikes me what a year it has been. From the acquisition of EE, to dealing with the ramifications of ‘Brexit’ – it has been a busy, challenging and rewarding year for the global wholesale team at BT!
We have largely completed the complex integration of EE, culminating in the closure of EE’s Paddington HQ in November with most staff now co-located with their BT counterparts in BT Centre Newgate St and Faraday House. We have also made significant progress on our Wholesale Transformation with the EE Commercial Roaming, Interconnect and Enablers functions fully integrated into the global wholesale team of BT and the wholesale data teams now aligned regionally to support our carrier partners in their local geographies.
The autumn period has been particularly hectic for wholesale as we entered the formal negotiation cycle for 2017 roaming inter-tariff agreements at GSMA WAS#4 event in Dublin; on-boarded EE voice to the BT global IPX in London; and launched a number of exciting enhancements to our core wholesale products and services at Capacity Europe in Paris. Wholesale voice customers can now mix and match the products they buy from BT depending on their specific requirements for each destination. Our account teams are now able to adapt routing in near-real time providing maximum flexibility for our customers. We also launched a new sales campaign for the newly combined BT/EE roaming portfolio at Africacom in Cape Town where we were pleased to note increasing interest in our global wi-fi roaming proposition with African operators. Please book time with your BT account manager should you be interested to hear more about these developments or the roadmap for 2017.
As we focus now on closing out the quarter and supporting many of our partners through their financial year-end, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers, partners and suppliers globally for your support this year. I wish everyone a safe, festive, happy holiday and a prosperous new year! See you all in 2017.
