Experton Group's Security vendor benchmark.

BT placed in six “leader” quadrants in the Experton Group’s Security Vendor Benchmark

BT has been recognised as a leading supplier of IT security services for the German market in the most recent “Security Vendor Benchmark 2016” by the Experton Group. Experton analysts ranked BT as a “Security Leader Germany” in six categories, including Cloud and Data Centre Security, Identity & Access Management (IAM), Managed Security Services and Security Consulting.

BT achieved an outstanding position in the Leader quadrant for Cloud and Data Centre Security Services. Experton deemed BT’s “Quickstart” consulting programme as a straightforward approach “to identify risks, set priorities for optimization and develop solutions to close security gaps.” The report pointed to BT’s wealth of experience and ability to offer and implement comprehensive vendor-neutral solutions while providing ongoing support after installation.

A commanding position

BT also achieved a “commanding” position in the leader quadrant for the Data/Backup Recovery Services category. Experton specifically praised the vendor-neutral backup concept, citing collaboration with BT partners that offer backup solutions meeting strict data protection requirements. The report highlighted the fact that BT operates data centres in Germany, which are compliant with local data protection laws. The report also scored BT highly in the Identity & Access Management (IAM) category for its broad portfolio and specific ‘Quickstart’ services.

BT scored well in the Management Security Services (MSS) category. “The BT Assure portfolio and other accompanying measures for guaranteeing the availability and confidentiality of MSS offer a seamless solution,” write the authors of the report. Good marks were achieved for the expansion of the Managed Security portfolio since last year, which now includes enhanced features such as defence against DDoS attacks (Distributed Denial of Service).

“With its global, efficient infrastructure, including 14 Security Operation Centres (SOC) based around the world, BT is well placed to cater for multinational companies,” said Lutz Peichert, member of the board and lead advisor at Experton Group. “At the same time, BT is able to reassure German companies in their concerns about security. Thanks to its own data centres, BT can provide services from within the country.”

Frank Kedziur, Head of BT Security at BT in Germany commented: “We are proud that our end-to-end managed security solutions and our new cyber defence services are so well ranked in the Experton Benchmark analysis. We protect the complex networks and cloud integration environments of large enterprises in Germany and all around the world. The results of this study further reinforce the trust customers place in our security portfolio and strategy.”
