Deb Lee, Chief Human Resources Officer

Biography

Deb LeeDeb was appointed as chief HR officer in July 2015. She reports to the CEO of BT Global Services.

As chief HR officer, Deb leads HR and the internal communications teams responsible for managing talent, capability and culture for the 18,000 people in Global Services.

Deb moved to Global Services from being BT’s chief learning officer where she led the leadership, learning, performance and talent agendas and set up the BT Academy. Prior to this, she served three years as the HR director for BT Retail, where she was responsible for the HR, training, CSR, PR, property and internal communications functions at a time when the company was launching BT Sport.

Deb joined BT in 1997 and has held numerous HR positions and been responsible for delivering a wide range of people related programmes. She led the multi-million pound global transformation programme and outsource of HR Services across 38 countries in eight languages in 2005, was BT’s founding representative for the Movement to Work, a collaboration of UK employers, and dealt with the people aspects of a number of acquisitions.

She holds a degree in Chemistry with Management from Imperial College, an MSc in Human Resource Management from Westminster University, a European Masters in Human Resource Leadership from SDA Bocconi, is an Associate of the Royal College of Science and a member of the CIPD.

Deb actively contributes to a number of external forums looking at a variety of issue considering youth unemployment, learning, talent, leadership and diversity. She is regularly sought out to discuss breakthroughs in human performance and spends a good deal of her time mentoring and coaching the next generation of leaders.
