Founded in 1968, Midea Group is a renowned Chinese manufacturer and exporter of household appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, electric cookers, water dispensers, microwave ovens, and air conditioners.
As well as an extensive marketing network across China, Midea has 21 subsidiary branches in markets such as the US, England, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Canada, Russia, France, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
In 2011, Midea plans to set up 10 more overseas branches. To continue its expansion, Midea needed a professional networked IT services partner to help continue building and expanding its global network.
Out of the many global and local network providers available Midea ultimately chose BT as its partner because of BT’s deep understanding of its business needs, and the fact that its far-reaching global network and technology could cost effectively support the company’s future expansion.
Lasting for a minimum of two years, the contract will cover 10 sites in 10 markets including Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, the US, Canada, and Mexico.
The BT network will provide Midea with access to both its corporate network and the internet. It will also underpin business-wide applications such as enterprise resource planning, office automation systems, and virtual services.
Kevin Taylor, President, BT Asia Pacific says: “This first contract with Midea further demonstrates the trust Chinese companies have in BT’s MPLS solutions as they continue to expand operations both at home and abroad.
We at BT are happy to help China build leading brands by providing the networked IT infrastructure that connects them to the global marketplace. BT is really an enabler of globalisation and the business expansion possibilities that can be found in today’s connected world.”
