DCC and BT orchestrate a unique wine tasting event for oenophiles around the world

Domini Castellare di Castellina leverages cutting edge technology to bring together wine experts across nine global locations

An influential group of wine enthusiasts and professional experts yesterday took part in a unique global wine tasting experience. Alessandro Cellai, oenologist at Domini Castellare di Castellina (DCC), one of the leading Italian winemakers, used BT’s collaboration solutions and global network capabilities to conduct a professional worldwide tasting of two of its most prestigious Tuscan wines.

The event took place in four continents simultaneously, allowing attendees to appreciate the winery’s style and composition and compare vintages. They tasted together two top wines in the global rankings; I Sodi di San Niccolò and Baffonero from DCC, six vintages each. They shared observations in real time and discussed a wide range of points of view with peers from different parts of the globe. As a special treat, DCC brought in from its own stock the 1986 vintage of I Sodi di San Niccolò, the first Italian wine in the TOP 100 of Wine Spectator from a vintage that is no longer commercially available.
