BT scores top overall product rating in Gartner’s Critical Capabilities for Pan-European Network Services
(10 April 2014)
BT is scored against seven critical product capabilities, and is rated ‘excellent’ for overall product viability
Just weeks after having been positioned as a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Global Network Service Providers (NSP), BT Global Services has scored the top overall product rating in Gartner’s Critical Capabilities report for Pan-European Network Services, 26 March 2014.
According to Gartner “Pan-European network services are becoming more important, due to the increasing globalization of enterprises, the growing trend toward sourcing global networks as a series of regional deals and the emerging need for even purely national organisations to use cloud services hosted outside their home countries.”
The report evaluates twelve vendors against seven critical product capabilities: managed MPLS VPNs, Ethernet Services, managed Internet VPNs & hybrid WANs, Internet Access, SIP trunking & TDM voice trunks, managed WAN optimisation and application performance management, managed LAN and WLAN.
Gartner recommends that users consider the set of critical capabilities as some of the most important criteria for acquisition decisions.
The report also rates BT’s overall product viability as “excellent”. Four major areas are considered for this rating: strategy, support, execution and investment.

- Gartner, Critical Capabilities for Pan-European Network Services, Neil Rickard, Katja Ruud, March 2014
I am proud to see that once again our network capabilities lead the market. This comes hard on the heels of being named a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Global Network Service Providers (NSP) Neil Rickard and Robert F. Mason, March 2014, and we see the combination of these placements as a reflection of the global success of our go-to-market strategy and BT Connect portfolio of intelligent network services. They are also a testimonial to the enhancements and innovation we keep bringing to our portfolio, including unified communications, cloud-based services, security, WAN optimisation and acceleration, and SIP trunking. In order to continue to be the best option in market we will continue to expand our global and domestic footprint to be where our customers need us to be, with BT people to support them, and we are committed to deliver on our promises of flexibility, enhanced service and integration. We wish to thank our customers for their continued support and partnership.”
