UK police forces are realising that to deliver against national targets whilst meeting the demands for local policing and continuing to make cost savings means that radical changes in how they work need to be considered.

Partnering with other forces, the private sector, and outsourcing many work areas are all being explored by an increasing number of forces. To succeed these new ways of working need to be underpinned by robust and efficient IT, enabling co-operative working and sharing of information, between individuals, forces, partners and communities.
