International Telecoms Week (ITW) in Chicago in May now seems like a distant memory as the business rapidly moves on from another event.
For the new Wholesale Voice and Roaming team it provided a great opportunity to get together with key partners. The team used the time to update on the wider changes within BT and more specifically within the Voice arena. These changes have already given us all a clear path and structure to success.
The topics ranged from the future of the industry to emerging markets and security in the wholesale space. It was an action-packed conference with almost 200 meetings with customers and partners over the three days. We are already seeing the benefit of these conversations with tangible results and I like to thank all participants for meeting us and driving real mutual business. Our attendance at the event shows our strong commitment to this market and from BT to the wholesale sector in general.
It was also great to see so many of you at our annual ITW party at theWit. These gatherings always give people the opportunity to have meaningful discussions in a more relaxed environment!
Since ITW, our colleagues from EE are now fully integrated and we are already seeing the benefit of more joined up conversations with our partners regarding our full portfolio. We have also on boarded a larger share of the EE IDD traffic and this should be completed in its entirety by the close of the second quarter. Overall this gives us an even better opportunity to exploit voice business around the globe in a 360 degree approach and I am looking forward to the discussions around this.
Second half of the year will no doubt also prove challenging in what is a very commoditised market place, however we are looking forward to that challenge and will no doubt be talking to you at future upcoming events.
Colin Dougan, head of voice, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, from my team will be attending Asian Carriers Conference in Cebu in Philippines in September along with his colleagues. Also, later in the year, Damien Staples, our VP and several of our EE colleagues will be at the GSMA WAS#4 event in Dublin in October and at Capacity Europe in Paris in November. Our team will look forward to meeting you there. Please write to us to pre-schedule meetings at any of these conferences.
Thanks for the business!
