BT Adds Icelandic Network Point-Of-Presence at Verne Global
(3 February 2015)
The new Point-of-Presence connects pan-European enterprise hubs expanding reach for data center looking for abundant, low-cost, 100% renewable power
Verne Global, a UK-based developer of energy efficient data center campuses, today announced that BT has chosen the Verne Global campus in Keflavik as the location of a new Point-of-Presence (PoP) for its global network. This new connection further expands BT’s network in the northern hemisphere and attests to Verne Global’s robust power and connectivity profile.
The PoP is part of the ongoing global expansion of BT IP Connect Global and Ethernet Connect Global. BT Global Services customers will now be able to extend their disaster recovery services, data analytics and other applications to an additional location that has an abundant supply of readily available power.
The new PoP will also allow BT customers to more easily leverage Verne Global’s carbon-neutral data center and reinforce links between their European and North American operations. In addition to offering wholesale and colocation services, Verne Global also designs and develops high-density, flexible resiliency data center space. Since opening in 2012, world-class companies such as BMW, RMS, CCP Games, Datapipe, RVX Studios and others have selected Verne Global’s award-winning campus to lower the operational and power costs of scaling their data center requirements.
“BT’s decision to expand their network to Verne Global’s campus provides enterprises worldwide with the opportunity to place their data in a location with low-cost, predictably priced power,” said Dominic Ward, vice president of corporate development at Verne Global. “Customers challenged by the increased demands of today’s data-driven economy will find a portfolio of flexible bespoke and colocation options for their business applications.”
The new PoP announced today at Verne Global in Iceland is part of the innovations we keep bringing to the market to help our customers deliver great performance and fully realize the possibilities in the cloud. It reinforces our global network at a strategic location in the Northern hemisphere and helps us meet our customers’ expectations in terms of state of the art networked IT capabilities.”
