BT expands security operations centre in Sydney

Expanded facility will support BT Security’s continued growth in Asia-Pacific and is part of the company's global portfolio of SOCs

Tony Stephens, director, regional strategy and engagement at Jobs for NSW, and Anthony Yarrow, key account manager, technology & services at NSW Department of Industry, join James Hennah, BT Security’s vice president for AMEA, to cut the ribbon on BT’s newly-expanded security operations centre (SOC) in Sydney.

The Sydney SOC includes BT’s first cyber security R&D facility outside of the UK, which was established in September 2017. The R&D hub is supported by a $1.67 million grant from the NSW government, and aims to create around 170 highly skilled jobs for local cyber security talent by 2022.

This facility forms part of BT’s global portfolio of SOCs, which provide ‘follow the sun’ security solutions to protect BT’s own global infrastructure and its customers, including some of the world’s best known brands. The SOC has been expanded to support BT Security’s continued growth in the region, and provides cyber security services including machine learning, data analytics and visualisation, cloud computing, big data engineering, and the full life cycle of software engineering.
