Piers joined BT in September 2017 as Corporate Affairs Director for BT Global.
His team manages BT’s internal and external communications across the 70 countries in which BT has operations outside the UK and the 180 countries in which the company serves its customers. A specialist in international reputation management, Piers worked for Jumeirah, the UAE-based luxury hotel group, from 2009 before joining BT.
Piers started his career in publishing in Edinburgh before taking up a position at the Université de Poitiers in France. After the velvet revolution, he moved to Prague, where he was a lecturer at Charles University, before becoming press officer for the Delegation of the European Commission in Prague, managing the communication of the EU’s economic aid programme to the countries of central and eastern Europe. After moving to Brussels with The Rowland Company, part of Saatchi & Saatchi, he joined Ogilvy PR as a vice president, overseeing corporate accounts across Europe, before being appointed senior vice president corporate communications for a joint venture between the Dutch telco KPN and the US telco Qwest, based in Amsterdam. As a crisis communications consultant he has advised companies in multiple sectors including telecoms, banking, technology, food and manufacturing.
Piers is a graduate of Cambridge University and has an MBA from Strathclyde University.
