Hurricane Irma: BT sends Emergency Response Team to support relief effort in Caribbean

We’re installing satellite communications units as part of the effort
We’ve sent our Emergency Response Team (ERT) to the Caribbean following Hurricane Irma.
It’s in response to a call from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Department for International Development (DFID) to support a humanitarian relief effort in the British Virgin Islands, Anguilla and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
It comes as territories in the Caribbean are now being hit by Hurricane Maria, a “potentially catastrophic” category five storm.
Craig Thorpe, BT Head of Complex Projects, is co-ordinating our efforts in country and liaising with our ERT, the MoD and DFID to ensure the emergency satellite systems are deployed to the areas most in need of communications.
