BT Managed IPAM services

BT Managed IPAM services We offer an advanced, centralized IPAM system that means you can manage your IP address space and associated DHCP and DNS servers. But you may prefer to leverage a managed service to perform IPAM tasks. An IPAM managed service approach enables you to retain focus on network initiatives while relying upon the skills and expertise of our managed services to support your foundational IPAM functions.

Our managed IPAM services are ISO-27001 and ISO-9001 certified. These certifications state that we are a model managed services organization and lend credible independent validation of our quality, security and management practices.

The foundation of our managed IPAM services is the Sapphire Infrastructure Management (SIM) Service, which provides management of backups, upgrades, monitoring and administration of deployed IPControl Sapphire DHCP appliances and DNS appliances. The SIM service provides for the system administration of deployed Sapphire DNS / DHCP appliances and IPAM appliances, including 24 x 7 x 365 monitoring, proactive trouble reporting and resolution, and upgrading of the Sapphire secure operating system, kernel, and DHCP and DNS services for security fixes or new feature sets.

BT Managed IPAM services The fully managed IPAM service encompasses and extends the SIM service to provide support for IPAM moves, adds, and changes. The IPAM service offers a complete IPAM services option, providing all of the system administration, monitoring and upgrades for deployed Sapphire DHCP / DNS appliances plus the day-to-day updates to IP address blocks, subnets, IP address assignments, address pools, DNS domains and resource records. IPAM functions are performed by the experts within our managed services center to provide rapid and accurate IPAM services.

What are IPAM managed services?
A managed service can be broadly defined as a service offering where the service provider manages infrastructure and / or applications for its clients. In this case, we offer IPAM managed services which enables customers to outsource the management of your IPAM infrastructure as well as your IPAM transactions (e.g. moves, adds, and changes of IP addresses, resource records, subnets, address pools).
Can I retain control of IP address and resource record moves, adds and changes
Yes, you can retain this function in one of two ways. Under the IPAM managed service subscription, you may initiate IPAM related moves, adds, and changes via the IPAM managed services web portal. These changes are then enacted by our managed services systems and staff. Alternatively, you may subscribe to the Sapphire Infrastructure Management (SIM) service, which enables you to retain all IPAM functions using the IPControl user interface.
Does your managed service consist of supplying staff to manage my IPAM?
No while BT Advise may support the ability to augment your IT staff to manage your IPAM implementation, our managed IPAM service provides a network based managed service where we monitor and manage Sapphire DDI appliances deployed within your network.
What is the Diamond IP SIM Service?
The SIM service is a form of managed service and is technically a subset of our managed IPAM service. The Managed IPAM Service encompasses all moves, adds and changes of IP addresses, subnets, pools, domains and more. These IPAM transactions require a solid foundation or infrastructure on which to enact these changes. The SIM service offers proactive management and administration of the underlying Sapphire appliance infrastructure, the engines providing IPAM, DHCP and DNS network services within the customer network. The SIM service provides automated data backups and restoral, proactive troubleshooting, system administration, security patches and feature upgrades for Sapphire appliances. So whether you desire to retain your staff to perform IPAM transactions using IPControl or subscribe to our Managed IPAM services, the SIM service provides a rock-solid infrastructure foundation for your IPAM / DHCP / DNS services.
Is the SIM service a form of ‘Software-as-a-Service’ (SaaS)?
In a loose sense the SIM service could be viewed as providing SaaS services in that customers use the IPControl application to manage infrastructure provided and managed by BT Diamond IP. However, the IPControl software is generally installed on the customer site (by virtue of deploying a pair of Sapphire EX appliances) so technically, this is not a SaaS offering.
What are the benefits of the SIM service?
There two key ‘bottom line’ benefits of the SIM service. This first is that it enables customers to outsource the management functions relating to DHCP and DNS server infrastructure such as monitoring, troubleshooting and upgrading servers or in this case, appliances, while retaining control of your IP address management (IPAM) functions such as IP address moves, adds, and changes. The second benefit of the SIM service is that it allows customers to deploy market-leading IPControl Sapphire IPAM, DHCP and DNS appliances without any initial capital outlay. Customers pay one predictable monthly fee for the Sapphire infrastructure, IPControl software, support, upgrades and the SIM service itself.
What are the benefits of the managed IPAM service?
The key benefits of our IPAM Managed Service include the ability to deploy and utilize award-winning IPControl Sapphire IPAM products to perform robust IPAM, DHCP and DNS services, plus the ability to enable the operation, configuration and management of these products by the IPAM experts at BT Diamond IP. Daily reports are available for monitoring the service and IPAM tasks.
